Maths Problem - Question 3

Cuboids!

We had to build our own cuboid out of paper because there was no-more cardboard. It was a big experience at measuring and finding out how things can be equal.

This is a 2D cube the length is 14cm and the width id 4cm so if we multiply the 14cm and the 4 cm we will get 56cm2.

The next one is a 3D shape the width of this 3D shape is 3cm3.

The length of this shape is 4cm3.

The height of this 3D shape is 14cm3.

So if we multiply the width of the 3D shape, The length of the 3D shape and also the height of the 3D shape. So that will be 14cmx3cmx14cm = 588.

The Heart Attack Grill Nonsense!

 

As a student at my age I think that the Heart Attack Grill should not be allowed to operate in Glen Innes NZ because it will make a lot of people get addicted to fatty foods and could kill up to half of our community.

I believe that the food at the Heart Attack Grill is unhealthy and filled with a lot of fat. Their fries are deep fried in lard, which is animal fat and is known to be less healthy than vegetable fat. The worst part about the Heart Attack Grill is that they offer burgers that are 4 patties high and filled with cheese and grease, this is unhealthy and a lot of people are just ignoring it and we won’t have this nonsense in our country.

The owner of the restaurant owner is promoting obesity through his food and lifestyle. The Heart Attack Grill offers unlimited fries, fat and sugar laden drinks as well as giant sized burgers. The environment, waitresses and costuming makes the restaurant out to look like a hospital. Warning signs caution the customers on how unhealthy the food is.

The counter argument could be that the owner of The Heart Attack Grill believes he is selling a positive message. By shocking customers and the people of the USA, they will stop eating unhealthy foods. However he continues to to sell the food, kill people and make money. Is this truly a positive message or one of a murderer?

When you weigh up all of the evidence, you can conclude that the owner of The Heart Attack Grill should be held accountable and that his restaurant should not be allowed to operate in Glen Innes, or in any other country around the world.

My Spine Story

Once upon a time there were 2 little girls named Kim and Tura. Every day they would walk around the park looking in rubbish bins for food because they were very poor.

But one day they saw a light coming from the park it was as bright as the sun. Because of that they got up and went to go and have a look, once they got there they saw a camera. “Oh wow it’s just a camera, lets go back home Kim” Tura said with a grin on her face, “Wait lets look through it first” Kim said with a detective look in her eyes, “Its a picture of K.F.C” Kim said. Then a fairy named Linitch came down and told them that if they took a photo of anything it would come to life if they said come to life please.

So they grabbed the camera and went home with excitement, they started taking photos of Pizza, Chicken, Mcdonalds and takeaways then they said the words and poof there it was on the table they started munching on all of it because they were so hungry.

When the months past they became fatter and fatter and they couldn't even walk on there feet, they were so lazy that they couldn’t even reach the camera that was in front of them and when Tura held the camera and while she was taking some photos the camera slowly disappeared and they were left with nothing and they ended up poor again.

The moral of the story is not to eat so much junk food before you become lazy like Kim and Tura in my story.

Adding Detail to Speech - Sponge Bob

On a sunshiny day Patrick and his friend Spongebob went to the sandy beach to go surfing on the big waves.

“Wooo, Oooo“ screamed spongebob, while falling off his surfboard and into the water.

Patrick was thinking of another way to surf without falling off his board, “Oooo” Patrick replied to himself with a competitive look in his eyes.

Standing on his surfboard feeling confident he spoke out “Apply the sauce“ he grabbed his glue and squeezed it all over his feet and surfboard. “I will not be separated from this surfboard“ Patrick shouted excitedly while riding the waves.

“Rock! Separate! Separate!“ he blasted out with a scared voice, he crashed into the rock leaving his board behind but his bones with him, his body slowly floated to shore.

“I like your sandals” exclaimed Patricks skeleton,  “Thanks we’re inseparable.” replied Patricks body.

Dory and Marelin - Just Keep Swimming

While Marlin was sitting on a rock feeling hopeless Dory swam to him and said with a squished up looking face ”Hey Mr Grumpy Gills, when life gets you down, you know what you gotta do?”

”I don’t want to know what you gotta do” Moaned Marlin. Grabbing Marlin’s fin they dived down into the deep dark ocean.

Dory started to sing ”Just keep swimming, just keep swimming,  just keep swimming, swimming, swimming, What do we do? We swim swim swim”

”Dory, No singing”, Marlin replied with a frown,

”I love to swim. When you want to swim” Bellowed Dory.

Swimming deeper and deeper into the ocean Dory continued singing, “See I’m gonna get stuck now with that song now it’s in my head” Marlin yelled.

“Sorry” Dory said in a gentle voice.

Our Goals For 2013!

This is a new year 2013. I was so happy to be going in my new class room, room 15, and my teacher is Miss King. My friends Turuhira and Kimberly and I have put together a little video about what our goals are going to be for 2013, and we hope to succeed most of them. Hope you enjoy our video.

Rugby World Cup 2011

My favourite part of the Rugby World Cup was when a boy was walking through names of rugby players on the ground. The last name was Jonah Lomu he is the best Rugby player I have ever seen and herd about. After that they both walked to a tall trophy that had a girl singing a beautiful song that I would like to learn, when I grow up just like her because she has a beautiful voice and she is pretty. Maybe one day I would be just like her.

My 2nd favourite Highlight was the Fire Works. They looked so cool when Mr Somerville ( My teacher) showed me on his Mac Book, but I really wished that I would of been there but I was at my Church Camp. To bad I couldn’t see the Rugby World Cup 2011, opening ceremony in Auckland. Some people from my school said that some of the Fire works came out the Sky Tower. And I said Wow that sounds awesome. My teacher Mr Somerville said that he was trying to get on a train but all the trains were filled because of the people at Sylvia Park, and I just laughed.

Jonah Lomu.

Hi my name is Dante Bartlett and today I'm writing about my favourite All Blacks player. Jonah Lomu is one of my favourite All Black players. He does the most hardest and strongest tackles. His full name is Jonah Tali Lomu and his position on field is wing. He was born on the 12 of May 1975. Rugby union is New Zealand's most popular sport school. He attended Wesley College, Pukekohe. He was inducted to the International Rugby Hall of Fame on the 9th of October 2007. After that Jonah Lomu started to be the best All Black Rugby player. Jonah Lomu ROCKS!!!! One day I wish to meet Jonah Lomu because he is awesome and cool.

Broncos vs Sea Eagles.

Yesterday night I watched the Broncos and the Sea Eagles playing rugby on T.V . And do you
know who I saw? I saw Darren lockyer. Darren Lockyer is one of my favourite rugby players. When I watched them play I knew that Broncos was going to win and you know what, they did. So me and my dad and my sisters started to cheer for them it was 18 to 10 it was a tough game. Lots of them played really well and so good. But if I were there I would cheer so loud saying'' GO BRONCOS GO BIT THAT TEAM DOWN'' Here is a video of them playing. Hope you like it.

Room 16 on One News

I was really excited because a lady named Kim came to our class and said that we were going to be on T.V! Suddenly our whole class started to try and look pretty in front of the camera, just like me. We had to be very quiet so that Kim could talk about Pt England School having Netbooks. Here is a video of us on One News and you can see Room 16 working very quietly. I felt really stink about the other schools not having Netbooks, but if I were to be the owner of the Netbooks I would help the poor schools get them so that they would have fun like we are right now. Embarrassing Moment

These were the 2 of my embarrassing times on different days.

It all began at the shops when I was embarrassed in front of a few people. I was getting some apples and putted it into the trolley. Then I took about 5 steps and my big brother Dominic put his leg out and I tripped over. So I stood back up again and then there was a 9 year old girl who was laughing. I thought about going to punch her but we had to go and eat some lunch.

It was so embarrassing when I was walking to school in the cold rainy wind I was holding an umbrella. there were other people who were there too but the wind was so hard a girls umbrella flew away and I started to laugh because it was funny. then I was walking with an umbrella and the wind was blowing hard out that the wind broke it. Then the girl was laughing at me. then I went across the road and gave her my umbrella and then ran to school because I didn’t want to get soaked.

My Dinosaur :)

Thousands of years ago there lived a Stegosaurus named Cathrine. She was not like the other dinosaurs because she was the only one with blue eyes and the rest had brown eyes. She was the shortest dinosaur out of there family. She loved to eat veges because she was a vegetarian but her family's were known as the best meat eaters. Cathrine also likes to eat plants her favorite veges are Carrots and Corn and the only meat she eats is Corn Beef its her favorite. They lived in a beautiful enormous white house that was in Washington. There were 24 bed rooms for my brothers and sisters and one huge one for me. My brothers and sisters get lots of money but when I get my money I save it for my family to go on a trip to Hawaii.

Cathrine is short but strong, she has spikes on her tail to protect her self from her enemy, plates on her back to look really cool and her skin color is Tan. What she likes to play is Tiggy. That is her favourite thing to play because she is very fast and is better then her family.

Dante Capture The Flag

On Friday room14 and 15 played a new game called capture the flag after morning tea on the bottom field. It was a tactical game.
First Miss King divided us into 2 teams, Room 15 was red and Room 14 was green. She also explained the rules, she said, ''If you get tugged you have to stand there until someone in your team gets you and takes you to the other side."
I was doing an awesome job of guarding the flag and Mary was rescuing people. Soon we were the winners at playing. When it was finished all of us were cheering and clapping for our team and the other team.
Finally we were exhausted and sweaty. Last of all we had to pick up rubbish and our class won again. That was the end of the game. I am so nervous and excited about playing a new game on Friday. I know it is going to be a fun game for all of us.
